Property sales drop 28.7%

The Land Registry logged 5,245 sale and purchase agreements for all building units received for registration in June, down 28.7% compared with May but 9.8% higher year-on-year.

The total consideration for such agreements in June dropped 34% from May, to $41.1 billion, while a 3.6% year-on-year increase was recorded.

Of the agreements, 3,856 were for residential units, representing a 30.5% decrease from May but a 6.7% rise from a year ago.

The total consideration for residential units was $34.5 billion, down 35.4% compared with May and up 2.6% year-on-year.

There were 356,843 land register searches last month.
